Music

The sound of music
Besides the usual music tuition, the DSJ offers many extra-curricular musical activities that focus on practical music-making in groups.

In addition, there is also a samba group, where, despite minimal background knowledge, pupils create a Latin-American vibe (they distinguished themselves in a competition in 2007).

We would like to invite all pupils who approach such extra-curricular musical activities with open-mindedness and interest to join us. Together with the theatre and art groups, we shall stage great performances in the course of the school year.

Sport

For the exact training days, please see the pdf above.

Basketball
A popular extra-mural activity for girls and boys where they play in a league.

Indoor handball
For girls and boys in the gym hall.

Hockey
Grade 5-9 girls and boys will play hockey in the second and third term. Senior learners have hockey training and league matches in the second term.

Netball

Primary Gala swimming
Pupils from grades 5-7 train twice a week. On Fridays we compete against other schools. The competition is very intense and we are a force to be reckoned with.

High School Gala swimming
All grade 5-12 pupils train twice a week in the morning. Everybody who has stamina and is interested is welcome. The Delville Gala takes place at the end of the season.

Swimming for beginners
This extra-mural activity is offered to everybody who is not yet a confident swimmer.

Squash
For years this extra-mural activity has been offered every Friday. Training takes place at the Parkview Squash Courts.

Tennis
Girls and boys here participate in leagues.

Volleyball
This type of sport is suitable for everybody (also beginners) and is mainly offered in the gym hall.

Theater

Theatre, theatre, nothing but theatre!
All our pupils who enjoy movement, games, expression and language, know that one need only arrive at the aula on Wednesday afternoons to be able to discover the fun of acting. At the start of each year there is bound to be a new play waiting to be produced. Naturally not everybody can get a main part, but we all know that a play's success depends on the contribution of each and everyone. Therefore the joy in working together is so important. A highlight each year is, of course, the theatre trip which includes rehearsals for the stage productions at the end of October.
