Bus Service
The DSJ offers all pupils a bus service which is run by Metro Bus Services. In the morning we offer eight different routes from the northern, western and eastern suburbs as well as three routes from the southern areas. In the afternoon ten routes are offered from the DSJ to the different suburbs. On all routes the stops are indicated by the DSJ signs. Pupils may use any route as often as they like as the bus service is included in the school fees.
Bus Service - general information
In the recent past, several comments and complaints have been made regarding the Metro buses that the school has hired. Please find below some information and requests from the school administration:
- Our contact person at Metro has changed While we were fortunate enough to have one person who would listen to all our issues, there are now 5 people in various depots responsible for us. This makes it occasionally more complicated to establish a swift communication.
- All 9 busses leave at around 06h00 in the morning to travel their various routes to the school. The arrival and departure times at the bus stops may vary slightly, depending on traffic. Because of the sometimes extensive road works, some drivers have indicated that they are severely delayed when traffic lights don’t work and points men or Metro police are not directing the traffic.
- Please allow 15 - 20 minutes delay before you give up waiting. Children should not be left unattended at the bus stop.
- After a 20 minute delay, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. We will follow up with Metro and try to obtain proper information and revert back to you.
- Please inform us immediately, should there be an complaints regarding the behaviour of the driver or tidiness of the bus. We will take it up with the driver and the responsible person in the respective depot.
- At the same time, please talk to your child/ren and ask them to behave properly in the bus. There have been occasions when the driver had to raise his voice to ask the children, for their own safety, to sit down and not run along the aisle or stand on the seats.
Thank you.
